Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and film actor known for her performance as the fiery attorney Teri Joseph on the Showtime series Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name upon her marriage. She was born and raised in Baltimore Maryland. As a child, she displayed an aptitude for acting and received the Top Actress Award at a Maryland High School Contest. In the years following her involvement in theatre and with "The Washington Ballet Company" and "The Washington Ballet Company", she earned an acting diploma from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love, her debut performance in a film of major importance, earned her a lot of respect. Later came films such as "Boogie Nights Spark" and Blue Streak. Her appearance on the television series Soul Food' was immensely loved. The actress was featured in TV programs such as Second Time Around, and Empire. Contractor who was born in Mumbai, who lived in Nigeria at the age of was seven years old. knew a great deal about different cultures around the world and was able to travel even at a very young age. She attended boarding school from the age of 7 to 9 in London. Later the family relocated in Toronto (Canada) where they were raised for her entire life. Contractor trained in classical ballet in Toronto. She also excelled academically. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, an arts school that focuses on theater and dance. Contractor was inspired to pursue acting more seriously at the age of 16 following almost 10 years of dancing. When she completed high school, she won an all-inclusive scholarship to the University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed an MA in Theatre, and also double majored with sociology and psychology. Contractor was a participant in the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After a full year of auditions, she was offered the lead part. She received rave reviews for her work on the stage in 92 productions. the play was voted the production of the year by Canadian reviewers in 2002. She accepted the invitation to join Stratford's conservatory. This is a course which allows just four men and eight women are able to take the 20-week crash course of classical theater. Contractor's spot was assured in the next season of shows as she was offered the part as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
